Casami Privacy Policy
1. Introduction & Scope
Effective Date: September 25th, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Casami, LLC ("Casami," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information through the Casami app, our website, and related services (together, the "Service"). It applies to parents and families who book care ("Families"), nannies and babysitters who provide care ("Caregivers"), and visitors to our website. This Policy works alongside our Terms and Conditions, Nanny Handbook, and Guardian Letter. Where those documents address a topic in more detail (for example, how Guardian Letters are used), we cross-reference them below rather than duplicate them.
2. Information We Collect
a. Information you provide directly
- Account and profile information: name, email, phone, address, date of birth (used to verify eligibility — including confirming Caregiver age for account type), profile photo. Email and phone are each confirmed with a one-time verification code before the account can be used.
- Payment and payout information, handled by Stripe Connect. Casami does not store your full card or bank account numbers.
- Your responses in the AI onboarding interview (see Section 4).
- Messages you send other users through the Service, and communications with our support team.
- If you sign up or log in using Google, Apple, or another third-party account, basic profile information from that provider (name, email, profile photo) as permitted by your settings with that provider.
b. Information about a child in a Family's care
This information comes from a parent/guardian or from a Caregiver in the course of providing care — never collected from the child directly, and the Service is not directed at or intended for use by children (see Section 8).
- Child's name, age, care instructions, allergies, and schedule
- Any illness, allergy, or other health-related notes entered in a Guardian Letter or profile — we treat this as sensitive personal information (see Section 20) and only collect it with your affirmative consent
- "Kid recordings" — audio/video captured during a caregiving session (see Section 7 for the consent requirements and access rules)
c. Information collected automatically
- Location data, opt-in only, and limited to active clock-in/work sessions — not continuous tracking when caregiver is clocked out
- Device and usage data: device identifiers, IP address, app/browser version, crash logs, in-app activity
- Push notification tokens, if you enable notifications
- On our website: cookies and similar technologies for site analytics (see Section 14)
d. Information from third parties
- Payment and payout confirmations from Stripe
- Basic profile data from a third-party sign-in provider, if you use social login
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Facilitate bookings, scheduling, hour tracking, and mileage/expense tracking
- Process payments and payouts and handle tax reporting (1099s)
- Support the opt-in location-tracking safety feature during active work sessions
- Power the AI onboarding interview and AI in-the-moment guidance tool (Section 4)
- Generate and store Guardian Letters, and maintain the portable verified work-history record
- Send required transactional communications (booking confirmations, verification codes) and, separately, marketing communications you've opted into (Section 13)
- Provide customer support
- Enforce our Terms, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations
- Improve the product and analyze usage in the aggregate
4. AI Features & Automated Processing
Casami's conversational onboarding interview and Nanny Assistant, the in-the-moment guidance chat available to Caregivers, are powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you use either feature:
- Your responses/messages are sent to Anthropic to generate the interview flow or guidance response
- Anthropic retains and uses your information
- Anthropic acts as a service provider/processor for this purpose — it does not use your data for its own independent purposes
Nanny Assistant answers a Caregiver's questions using the Household Handbook, the family's schedule, and each child's care details (including allergies, medications, and other health-related notes entered for that child). It also draws on the Family's answers from the AI onboarding interview — household style, discipline approach, daily-routine preferences, and each child's personality and medical notes — everything except the family's specified budget or pay range, which is never shared with a Caregiver. A Family can review this same recap of their interview answers on their own Family Info screen. See Section 5 for how this fits into what Families and Caregivers can see about each other.
The nanny-vs-babysitter classification (based on hours and schedule regularity) is automated.
5. How We Share Information
- Between users: A Family sees relevant parts of a Caregiver's profile (and vice versa), including Guardian Letters exchanged between you and the portable verified work-history record a Caregiver chooses to share. A linked Caregiver can also see the Family's AI onboarding interview answers — household style, discipline approach, daily-routine preferences, and each child's personality and medical notes — except the Family's budget/pay range, which is never shown to a Caregiver (Section 4).
- Service providers, acting on our behalf:
- Stripe — payments and payouts
- Anthropic — AI onboarding interview and Nanny Assistant guidance chat (Section 4)
- Supabase — database, authentication, and backend hosting
- Twilio — delivery of text messages, such as sign-in verification codes (Section 13)
- Resend — delivery of email verification codes and, for a minor Caregiver, the one-time code sent to their parent/guardian for consent (Section 8)
- Mapbox — for a Caregiver who drives for work, matches their recorded GPS trace to actual roads to calculate accurate mileage
- Firebase (Google) — in-app product analytics and crash reporting; configured to exclude advertising identifiers, so it is not used for ad tracking
- Google Analytics
- Legal and safety disclosures: law enforcement, legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to address an imminent safety concern involving a child or other user.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, financing, or acquisition.
- Aggregated or de-identified data that can't reasonably be used to identify you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising purposes.
6. Location & Tracking Data
- Off by default; a Caregiver must opt in
- Only active during a clocked-in work session — not tracked continuously or outside active sessions
- A Caregiver can view or turn off location sharing in-app at any time
- Visible to the Family only during the active session
- If you drive for work during a session, your recorded GPS trace may be sent to Mapbox, our mapping service provider, to match it to actual roads for accurate mileage calculation
- Retention: deleted within 30 days of the session
7. Recordings & Consent ("Kid Recordings")
- Purpose: fun and heart warming documentation for families during a caregiving session
- Consent: Because Florida and Massachusetts require all-party consent to record, we require affirmative consent from the Caregiver and from the parent/guardian on behalf of the child before recording begins.
- Access: Both the booking Family and the Caregiver who made the recording can view/download it.
- Retention: Deleted within 30 days of the session, unless a recording is part of an active dispute or safety investigation, in which case we retain it until that matter is resolved.
- Prohibited uses: Recordings may only be used for the safety/accountability purpose stated here — not shared outside the Service, not used for marketing, not accessed by Casami staff except as described in Section 5's safety-disclosure provision.
8. Children's Privacy
- The Service is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children.
- We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from a child. Information about a child (Section 2b) is provided by their parent/guardian, who represents they have the authority to provide it.
- A parent/guardian may request access to or deletion of their child's information at any time by contacting thecasamiapp@gmail.com
- Minor Caregivers: A Caregiver between 15 and 17 may create an account, but must confirm their date of birth and cannot link with a Family (redeem a join code) until a parent or guardian approves. We collect the guardian's name, relationship to the minor, and email address to send a one-time verification code to that email; the minor cannot complete this step using their own email address. We use the guardian's email only for this consent process. Because our payment processor, Stripe, generally requires payout-account holders to be 18 or older, a minor Caregiver's payouts must be set up and received through a parent or guardian's own Stripe account. If we learn a child has created an account directly, we will close it and delete the associated information.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Because the app is available nationwide from launch, this section is written broadly rather than limited to your initial launch markets. Not every right below is legally required in every state — but we're extending the practice consistently rather than varying it by where you happen to live. Depending on your state, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we've collected about you and request a copy
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and data — available self-serve in-app, not just by contacting support
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and out of targeted advertising (as noted in Section 5, we don't do either)
- Appeal if we deny your request
To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app deletion tool for account deletion, or contact thecasamiapp@gmail.com for anything else. We'll verify your identity before fulfilling a request and respond within the time required by applicable law. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with your written permission. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
10. Data Retention
Our general approach is to keep data only as long as needed, and to delete it promptly once it's not — with specific exceptions where the law requires longer retention regardless of that preference:
- Account and profile data: retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account closure, except as described below
- Location data: deleted within 30 days of the work session (Section 6)
- Kid recordings: deleted within 30 days of the session, unless part of an active dispute (Section 7)
- Payment and tax records: retained per IRS recordkeeping requirements
- Verified work-history record: retained at the caregiver’s request
11. Data Security
We use administrative & technical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls limiting who at Casami can view sensitive data. No system is completely secure; if we experience a breach affecting your personal information, we'll notify you as required by applicable state breach-notification law. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
12. Payments & Financial Data
Stripe Connect processes all payments and payouts; Casami does not store your full card or bank account number and relies on Stripe's PCI-DSS compliance for that data. We collect tax information (W-9, FATCA-related information as applicable) to issue 1099-NEC/1099-K forms as required.
13. Communications Preferences
- Transactional messages — booking confirmations, verification codes, safety alerts — are required for the Service to function. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP (see "Text messaging (SMS)" below), but you may then be unable to receive verification codes by text.
- Message and data rates may apply to SMS.
Text messaging (SMS)
If you give us a mobile number, we use it to text you one-time verification codes when you sign up, sign in, or change your phone number. We send these messages through our text-message delivery provider, Twilio, and our authentication provider, Supabase. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.
We do not share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in/consent information with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is shared only with the service providers that deliver our messages on our behalf, and only for that purpose.
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies with how often you sign in or request a code. The full text-message program terms are in Section 19 of our Terms and Conditions. You can see exactly how we ask for your consent on our SMS consent page.
Email verification
We also use your email address to send a one-time verification code when you first confirm it and, for a minor Caregiver's guardian, to send the guardian-consent code described in Section 8. These emails are sent through our email delivery provider, Resend. We do not send marketing or promotional email under this feature.
14. Cookies & Tracking Technologies (Website)
Our marketing website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, to understand site traffic and usage. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
15. Third-Party Links & Integrations
Our website and app may link to third-party sites or services, including social media and, where you choose to use it, social sign-in (Google, Apple, etc.). We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties — review their policies separately.
16. Agreement to Arbitrate
Except as set out below, you and Casami agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to your use of Casami — including disputes about these Terms, your account, payments processed through Casami Cash, or the services of a nanny or family you connect with through the platform — will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.
Rules and Administration. Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The arbitration will be conducted on video, unless you and Casami agree otherwise.
Class Action and Jury Trial Waiver. You and Casami each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative action. Claims must be brought individually.
What This Agreement Does NOT Cover (Mandatory Carve-Outs).
- Sexual assault and sexual harassment claims. As required by federal law, this arbitration agreement does not apply to any dispute involving an allegation of sexual assault or sexual harassment. Either party may bring such a claim in court instead, and a court — not an arbitrator — decides whether this carve-out applies to a given dispute.
- Claims a child in a nanny's care was harmed, abused, or neglected.
- Claims for injunctive relief related to intellectual property infringement (see DMCA policy below).
- Small claims court matters within that court's jurisdictional limits.
Opt-Out Right. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to thecasamiapp@gmail.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, including your name, account email, and a clear statement that you decline to be bound by arbitration. If you opt out, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Austin, Texas, and you and Casami each waive the right to a jury trial to the extent permitted by law.
Severability. If any part of this arbitration agreement is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, except that if the class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) will proceed in court rather than arbitration.
17. Copyright Infringement Notification (DMCA)
Casami respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of our platform to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512, we will respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. If you believe that content available through our platform infringes a copyright you own or control, you may submit a written notification to our designated Copyright Agent that includes the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list, if multiple works are covered by one notification).
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it (e.g., a URL or in-app location).
- Your contact information, including your address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
Upon receipt of a valid notification, we will remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material and notify the user who posted it. Users who believe their content was removed in error may submit a counter-notification meeting the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3), and we will act on it in accordance with the statute (including forwarding it to the original complainant and restoring the material after 10–14 business days absent a court action, unless the law requires otherwise). We reserve the right to terminate the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers.
18. Changes to This Policy
We'll update the "Effective Date" above when we make changes. For material changes — ones that materially expand how we use or share your information — we'll provide advance notice via email or an in-app notice before the change takes effect.

20. Definitions
- Personal Information: information that identifies or reasonably relates to an identifiable individual.
- Sensitive Personal Information: a subset of Personal Information requiring extra care and, generally, opt-in consent — including precise geolocation, recordings involving a minor, and health-related information such as a child's allergy or illness notes. (This is a state-privacy-law concept, separate from HIPAA, which does not apply to Casami.)
- Sale / Share: as used in Sections 5 and 9, has the meaning given under applicable state privacy law (broadly, exchanging personal information for money or other value, or for cross-context behavioral advertising). Casami does not do either.
- Family: a user who books care through the Service.
- Caregiver: a nanny or babysitter who provides care through the Service; classified as one or the other based on hours and schedule regularity per our published threshold.
